Hi Moose here (as in Mattson) owner, resident staff-of one and all-around big-guy. I want to welcome you to Main Vein Comics, Collectibles & Creepy Stuff, a brainchild of my twisted, sardonic mind. Nestled, comfortably in Western Massachusetts, between the junction of Route 2 and Route 91 (exit 27, wink wink). Main Vein Comics or MVC as we yokels call it is the ONLY comic shop (for now at least, keep fingers crossed people!) in ALL of Franklin County!!!

The shop consists of everything I’ve always wanted in a comic book shop, before I was behind the counter I was a comic fan/shopper just like ewe (farm joke, sorry) and never really found a shoppe (old English here baby!) that I could comfortably call home…until now. I know I’d want to shop here!

I’m a one-man show, “…just me out there!” so you won’t get a “staff” when you walk through the creaky cemetery-like iron gates at MVC, but you will get me (“’Ello!”). I’m not a very good salesman by trade, but I’m honest…and that alone is worth the price of admission (disclaimer, Main Vein Comics has no admission fee, it’s FREE!!!!!)

My shop is your “typical” comic blue-print in terms of product; I veer a wee-bit off into the horror world (personal preference) and any bizarre item that just doesn’t make sense (i.e embalmer’s case, the occasional urn, or how about a rare Capitol swirl 45 of “Chubby and the Turpikes” oh yeah, you want it!) You’ll also find a nifty, spiffy Robert Goulet signed B&W 8X10…”Goulet!” Original sketches by Al “E.C.” Williams, Sean Chen, John Cassaday, Rags Morales, Guy Davis and more.

I “con-hop” (industry term used for one who attends many comic book conventions) and get tons of books signed and artwork, so you never know what back issue you pull from the long boxes will be signed, “…so I got that going for me!” Speaking of comics, I carry a wide selection of new comic books ranging from the big four (Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Dark Horse Comics & Image Comics) to the smaller press companies such as Dynamite Entertainment, Fantagraphics Books, Devil’s Due Publishing, IDW Publishing, TokyoPop, Aspen Comics, Bongo Comics just to name a few, ok, well more than a few.)

I’m a product of the late Seventies and Eighties (I had the entire Six Million Dollar man 12” figure line, the whole canoli!) so needless to say I like action figures (NEVER call ‘em dolls!) So you’ll find a lot of figs (companies such as DC Direct, Toy Biz Marvel Legends, NECA, McFarlane Toys, Mezco, Hasbro and Kenner.)! I have two good size bookcases full of TPB (trade paper backs for the uninformed) a good selection of comic related shirts, some models and statues (Bowen, Marvel, DC, etc). I pretty much have the composite pop-culture vibe going on! Most MVC customers will attest to this analogy, Main Vein Comics is like buying a Lou Reed album, “you never know what you’re gonna get!” You’ll be amazed at what you’ll find week to week.

MVC offers subscriptions for those readers who wish to get their titles monthly and NEVER miss an issue, or if you want to get a “specialty” item you only need reference Previews (Diamond Comic Distributors monthly catalog) and put a bug in Moose’s ear and it shall be done. I also offer through the mail subscriptions with CHEAP shipping, the way it should be; so if you’re semi-local and what to get “funny books” but don’t have wheels or want to waste petrol just email or drop me line and we can set you up with a mail order subscription.
